Charlton’s U21s fell to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Swansea City on Monday afternoon.
The young Addicks twice led through Daniel Kanu and Harvey Kedwell but the hosts responded well and Ben Lloyd notched what would ultimately prove to be the match-winning goal on 19 minutes.
Daniel Kanu fired Hamza Serrar’s side ahead after 11 minutes. Kedwell’s inswinging free-kick found Lucas Ness, who forced a smart save from Ben Hughes but Kanu was on hand to stroke home from close range.
The Swans hit back moments later through Tarrelle Whittaker, who converted Joe Thomas’ low centre.
Kedwell restored the young Addicks’ advantage five minutes after the restart, winning possession back on the halfway line and racing through before rifling home with an unerring finish.
The hosts responded instantly again though, this time through Joel Cotterill whose deflected effort deflected crept past Ahmed Kone.
Lloyd completed Swansea’s turnaround on 71 minutes, steering home Cotterill’s cross.
