Peterborough United U23 3-2 Charlton U23

Jake Forster-Caskey got another 66 minutes of football under his belt for the U23s on Tuesday as the young Addicks slipped to a 3-2 defeat at Peterborough United.

The midfielder played 45 minutes and scored the opener in the previous week’s draw at Watford and stepped up his return to fitness with another outing at London Road.

The home side raced into a three-goal lead before half-time with Kai Corbett, Joe Taylor and Kellan Hickinson all finding the net.

But Charlton staged a spirited second-half comeback, pulling one back via Daniel Kanu’s 35th goal of the season with Forster-Caskey claiming an assist from his free-kick delivery.

But while Dylan Gavin netted a second with three minutes remaining, it would not be enough for Anthony Hayes’ side, with the Posh claiming all three points.

Charlton U23s: Harvey, O’Connor, Mitchell, Ness, Santos, Campbell (Bakrin 46), Agyemang (Viggars 73), Forster-Caskey (Anderson 66), Williams, Kanu, Gavin.

Subs (not used): Kone, Leaburn.

Goals: Kanu 52, Gavin 87.
