Academy Notes: Miles Leaburn

Charlton Athletic U18s striker Miles Leaburn spoke to Valley Gold for Academy Notes after the recent 3-0 win at Millwall.

Leaburn signed for the Addicks from Chelsea at U16 level and describes himself as a centre forward who mainly drops in to receive the ball and holds it up for the team, but also can run in behind defences causing problems for the opposition, and he told Valley Gold:

“Millwall kicked off and within thirty seconds our first chance came when a cross came in and there was a bit of a scramble in the box before the ball fell to Ladapo who shot but a body on the line clearance denied him an early goal.

“However, 5 minutes later a trademark Bower cross came in and I was able to guide it into the bottom corner with a well-placed header. Throughout the rest of the first half it was quite back and forth with both teams having chances but we had the more dangerous looking ones.

“The second half continued how the first ended until the 55th minute when I played Huke through with a clever back-heel and he slotted it past the keeper at the near post. Throughout the rest of the game we dominated and near the end a nice ball over the top of the defence was played to me and I assisted it through to Daniel Kanu who struck a nice left-footed effort into the bottom corner for our 3rd of the game and his 29th of the season.”
