Academy Notes: Aaron Henry

Charlton Athletic U23s central midfielder Aaron Henry spoke to Valley Gold for Academy Notes after the recent 3-1 win at Swansea City.

Aaron who signed for Charlton aged 10 and enjoys being on the ball, showcasing his ability in possession with his passing variety and range told Valley Gold:

“We played a strong Swansea side with a few experienced players involved and began the game well, scoring first after winning the ball on an aggressive press and Ryan Viggars’ shot across goal was turned into their own net by their defender in an attempt to clear his lines.

“Moments after, a second was added by myself. I saw the goalkeeper off his line and managed to shoot with enough power & accuracy to surprise the keeper and catch him off guard. We finished the half in a solid and professional manner ensuring our 2-0 scoreline was intact.

“Despite Swansea reducing the deficit shortly after half-time the game finished 3-1 to Charlton Athletic with Dylan Gavin deservedly getting on the score sheet with a great finish off the underside of the crossbar.

“The team managed to go to an experienced Swansea side and have more of the ball which is a great accomplishment against a side with a DNA to dominate the ball and make hundreds of passes.

“We have now moved into 6th position in the league table and the players and staff I’m sure are now looking to build on this win and go on a run of wins.”
