Charlton Athletic U23s defender Charlie Barker spoke to Valley Gold after the recent 2-1 defeat at home to Ipswich Town.
Charlie told Valley Gold:
“We started off very well and took a first-half lead when Mason Burstow found the near corner from a fast counter-attack. For the rest of the half, we were much more the dominant side without talking our chances.
“After half time it was a much more even affair, and 10 minutes after the break the visitors nicked one back after a pullback cross and a turn and finish from one of their midfielders.
“Mason Burstow had a second goal disallowed for offside before Ipswich ended up with a free kick in a wide area. They delivered into the box and we were unable to clear, allowing one of their forwards to smash the ball home from close range.
“Even though the result was a big downer on our top 2 opportunities, a good run of results to the end of the season could still be enough for our play-off hopes.”
