Academy Notes: Jason Adigun

Charlton Athletic U18s midfielder Jason Adigun spoke to Valley Gold after the recent 4-0 win at home to Nottingham Forest.

The central midfielder who signed for Charlton at U13 lists his strengths as playing and evading pressure in tight spaces, good strength to protect the ball and calm and composed in possession told Valley Gold:

“In the first half, we were quite poor technically, not keeping the ball very well allowing Nottingham Forest to apply pressure on us with the long balls that they were playing. Forest played a diamond which the team was not expecting and they had an overload in the midfield making it hard for us to play out from the back. This played into their hands, pressing so they could win the ball higher and closer towards our goal.

“In the second half, we improved technically and started to control the game. Going ahead early in the second half really lifted our spirit as it gave the whole team a boost. We went on to score three more goals and put Nottingham Forest to the sword.

“Our first goal came from a cleverly worked free-kick, that Kai Garande dispatched.

“Our second goal arrived courtesy of Miles Leaburn, after an excellent pass from Tyreece Campbell. I managed to set up Mack Reilly for our third goal before Jeremy Santos converted a penalty to round off the scoring.”

The game ended 4-0 and this result puts Charlton second in the league table, two points behind the leaders Ipswich Town.
