Match Report: Sheffield United U18s 3 Charlton U18s 3

Charlton’s U18s shared the points with Sheffield United in a six-goal thriller on Saturday.

The young Addicks hit three first-half goals in Yorkshire, but the Blades pulled themselves back in the second period to cancel out the visitors’ two-goal advantage, leaving the Londoners to settle for a point.

It took just four minutes for Tyreece Campbell to open the scoring for Charlton. The winger got on the end of a perfectly-weighted through-ball to fire an excellent first-time finish across the keeper and into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.

The Blades were level 11 minutes later after a half-cleared cross was turned in on the volley by a red and white stripy shirt, but two goals in six minutes put the Addicks back in control before the break.

First, a United defender chested a dangerous right-wing cross into his own net to put Charlton back in front, before Jason Adigun’s excellent strike three minutes before half-time gave his side a two-goal cushion.

The home side fought their way back after the restart, however, reducing the arrears to a single goal in the 56th minute thanks to an unstoppable free-kick from 22 yards, with the equaliser coming with 18 minutes remaining.

A corner was delivered deep from the left and met by a Blades head which beat the keeper and, although it looked like it had been cleared off the line, the referee signalled that it had just gone over, earning a leveller and a point for the home side.
