Charlton Athletic U18s striker Jeremy Santos spoke to Valley Gold for Academy Notes after the recent 1-0 defeat at Ipswich Town.
Jeremy who has been at the Charlton Athletic Academy since he was 8 years old has enjoyed and appreciated the efforts put in by the Academy team. The young forward told Valley Gold:
“My main strengths are creative plays and managing the ball. As well as this I am very good at dribbling and I’m not afraid of trying new things out. Competing is also a big part of my game where I love a good tackle.”
“I wasn’t able to start the season as I wanted due to an injury but now that I came back in November I’ve been working hard to get back in form and help the team out. We have been very good and worked hard throughout the season which meant that we have one of the best defensive records in the league.”
Speaking after the 1-0 defeat, he added:
“This was a poor team performance and we must look to improve individually and collectively. The match started and neither team had clear possession of the ball and it was lacking in quality and control. We had a few chances to score, however, we needed to be more clinical. The second half started and spirit was lacking from the team which is unusual from us. The game became very ugly and the ball was constantly in the air. They scored from a set play having started the half on the front foot. The rest of the game was very scruffy and we did not get a hold of the game and dominate any aerial or 50/50 battles.”
“Fortunately, due to our previous results, we remain second, behind Millwall, however, this loss doesn’t help our chances to come first in the League with a gap of five points appearing.”
