Charlton Athletic U18s attacking midfielder Euan Williams spoke to Valley Gold for Academy Notes after the 3-2 win over QPR at Sparrows Lane last Saturday.
Euan who has been at the Academy since the age of 7 is loving and enjoying every moment at Charlton and told Valley Gold:
“I haven’t been able to play this season so far due to an injury but in my first game back from injury we put on a spirited performance. In the first half the game was very open and very ‘end to end’ which meant that there were chances to score for both sides. However, we were more clinical and went into the break with a 2-0 lead thanks to brilliant defensive work from the forwards who were able to win the ball off of the QPR defenders twice and score. I managed to score one, with Dylan Gavin grabbing the other.”
“In the first half, neither team were really able to control the tempo of the game and this continued into the second half. But, QPR did manage to fashion out a few more chances and overall had a better second half.”
“Despite this, we scored another goal when Luca Albon bent a free kick from 25 yards out onto the post and in. At 3-0 the game looked to be over. However, a late onslaught from QPR saw them score twice in the remaining 3 minutes, making the dying embers of the game very nervy.”
“Fortunately, we managed to hold on and get the three points which now leaves us second in the league, 2 points behind rivals Millwall.”
