Charlton Athletic U18s forward Richard Afrane-Kesey spoke to Valley Gold for Academy Notes after the recent 3-1 victory for the Addicks over Queens Park Rangers.
“I’m an industrious forward from Hackney who relishes 1v1 duels and can be considered a threat to the opposition.”
“Personally I believe I had an impactful performance not only considering the goals that I scored to help the team to victory but in terms of chance creation and involvement; especially in the First half. For me, the Second half was a lot more quiet, up until the final fifteen minutes in which, with the help of teammates, I added two more goals to my tally for the season which proved to be a crucial contribution.”
“Collectively we had flashes of good play in order to create goal-scoring opportunities. However, the imposing style we displayed in the final third I felt should’ve been shown in other areas of the pitch on a consistent basis. We ended the First half with a 1-0 lead, helped by Luca Albon who delivered a driven cross for Andre Thompson-Fearon to produce a delicate flick towards the near post to finish.”
“In the Second half, we gave the opposition some leeway as QPR fought hard for a well-deserved equaliser. At this rate the game could’ve gone either way, through sheer grit we managed to ease the storm QPR were looking to create. Later rewarded by Richard Afrane-Kesey who sealed off the tie for us with two goals in the closing ten minutes.”
“We currently rank Second in the U18 Professional Development League South Division, only one point behind leaders Watford.”
