Luca Albon, Vice-Captain of the Charlton Athletic U18s spoke to Valley Gold for Academy Notes after the 1-1 draw with local rivals Millwall.
“Personally, I have a had a good start to the season and was nominated as Vice-Captain by the players and staff of the U18’s squad. I am currently the leading goal scorer with 6 goals from 7 games in the league.”
“However, I was disappointed with my performance against Millwall and thought that I didn’t perform to the levels that I have shown in previous games this season.”
“Charlton Athletic U18’s played their local rivals Millwall which saw both teams take a point from the game. Charlton started the game slow which saw the away side take the lead in the 18th minute. Charlton lost possession of the ball in and around the halfway line which allowed Millwall to play a dissecting pass through both our centre-backs. Charlie Barker tried to recover but could only deflect the shot from the Millwall striker which ended up in the back of the net.”
“Charlton grew into the game and had two great chances but couldn’t capitalise on either of them just before half-time. The equalizer came from the penalty spot with 10 minutes left to play. Aaron Henry converted the penalty after Andre Thompson-Fearon was brought down.”
“The game ended 1-1 leaving Charlton Athletic U18’s still unbeaten from their first 7 games and sitting in second place of the U18 Professional Development League South.”
