Charlton’s U14s finished in fourth place after a 3-0 defeat by Newell’s Old Boys in the 3/4th playoff.
Adam Lawrence reports ‘A disappointing performance and result to end our tour. Unfortunately, we were second best and struggled in the heat, which resulted in us making poor decisions on the ball. A shame not to score at the stadium but we had a couple of good chances but it was not to be today. Penerol beat Paranaense 1-0 in the final so we actually lost to the eventual winners in the semi-final.’
He went on to say, ‘Overall it was a fantastic trip and experience for the Academy from a football and life perspective. The boys and staff are hugely appreciative of the support from Valley Gold and although we were disappointing today we have played some very good football. We have also given a very good impression of our Academy and club.’
