Charlton Athletic’s Academy Manager was honoured at the Premier League Youth Development Conference Season 2017/18 with the Eamonn Dolan Award.
The event was held at Molineux – the home of Premier League newcomers Wolves – with Steve Avory recognised following the progression of a number of youngsters to first-team level over 2017/18.
The Eamonn Dolan Award celebrates individuals for their innovation and exceptional contribution to football coaching and coach development over the past season. Well-respected former Reading academy chief Dolan sadly passed away in 2016, following his brave battle against cancer.
The Premier League commented: “Eamonn Dolan was a leading advocate of the idea that we should develop a community of coaches who, over time, would become world-leading. We believe that we already have many fantastic coaches working in our clubs and there were some very strong nominations for this award.
The selection group felt Steve Avory’s nomination was outstanding and we are sure that you are fully deserving of the award and will represent Eamonn’s legacy as you continue working within the academy environment.
Congratulations to you Steve and all who work alongside you within an Academy set-up as it continues to be the envy of so many clubs across the country from all at Valley Gold.
