More details have been released of the International Tournament that Valley Gold is sponsoring on behalf of the Charlton Athletic Academy in May this year.
On the weekend of the 12 and 13th May, we are hosting a six-team tournament for players born in 2003. The teams that are taking part are Charlton Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur, PSV Eindhoven, Ipswich Town, Southend United and Fulham FC.
This tournament will pit our team against not only an International team but two Cat 1 academies. As well as ourselves Ipswich are a Cat 2 academy and Southend a really good Cat 3 academy.
Valley Gold wanted to ensure a broad range of Academies, enabling teams to play against opposition that they may well not play against during the season.
The games start at 11 am at the training ground on the 12th May with the last kick off scheduled for 2.45pm. It will be a round robin format with every team playing each other.
On the Sunday games are being played at the Valley with the first kick off at 10.30am with the last kick off at 1.30pm. All of the Sunday fixtures are liable to change depending on the fate of our first team.
We believe this tournament will enable all Valley Gold members to see how good the Academy players are and if you attend the games on the Saturday, please look round the Training Ground to see how impressive the changes are.
To attend any of these games you must be a Valley Gold member or Season Ticket Holder. On the Saturday you will need to bring your Valley Gold membership card or season ticket and show it at the entrance to Sparrows Lane.
For the games at The Valley you will need to register for tickets. To begin with, we are limiting tickets to two per Valley Gold member or Season Ticket. However, should you want additional tickets we will keep your details and advise you of availability closer to the event.
